Stock Drama Group performing “Calendar Girls” to beat blood cancers

Stock Drama Group from the village of Stock in Essex, have bravely decided to perform “Calendar Girls” based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth, from 21st – 24th November 2012 to help charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research beat blood cancers.

Money raised will help fund life-saving research into better treatments and cures for leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

Following in the tradition of the original Calendar Girls who have raised millions for the charity, the group have decided to donate a percentage of their ticket sales, as well as raise funds in a number of other ways on the nights of the performances.

Peter Baker, the show’s director, says: “I’m relishing the prospect of directing such an exciting and yet challenging play.  It will be great fun for all those involved (although maybe a little nerve-racking for the ladies in certain scenes!), and will also help to raise money for research into better treatments for blood cancer.”

Kate White, Fundraising Director of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research says: “It’s great that Stock Drama Group are taking on this challenge.  Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research receives no government funding and every penny raised will help make a difference to the lives of patients with blood cancers including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.”

You can support Stock Drama Group by coming to see the show at Stock Village Hall, Common Road, Stock, Essex between 21st and 24th November 2012 starting at 8pm, with a matinee on Saturday 24th November at 2.30pm.   Tickets will be on sale from early October 2012 priced at  £9.00 per adult or £8.00 for concessions, and can be obtained by calling 01277 840737 / 840259, or from the box office: Exclusive Dry Cleaners, Holly Court, Billericay.  £2 from each ticket sold will go to the charity.   See the drama group’s website for further information:

Please ensure tickets are booked in advance to avoid disappointment!
