Can You Really Get Fit In 4 Minutes? Tabata Says Yes!!

There is a new fitness craze revealed where you can get fit in just 4 minutes!! “How?” you ask!! “Not possible”, you say!! Well, it is claimed to be possible and here is how…

Tabata TrainingTabata!!

Tabata is a form of high intensity interval training method that can be easily followed. It can offer more health benefits to you than the traditional cardiovascular exercise. It’s so quick and easy to do, that it can fit in to almost any fitness program of your choice.

Instead of spending hours and hours of exercise, Tabata will take just 4 minutes to complete. It comes under the category of “High Intensity Training” or “High Intensity Interval Training.”  Cardio exercises are a popular brand of exercise designed to improve endurance and stimulate fat loss. The exercises can be anything from long distance running, skipping, biking or even power walking. All of these usually fall under the category of moderate intensity training because they tend to last anywhere from a half hour to more than an hour going at the same pace.

The basic outline of the Tabata training is just 4 minutes long. You have to do 20 seconds of intense training, then rest for 10 seconds, the repeat this for a total of 8 sessions or rounds (4 minutes worth of training).

Tabata was founded by a Japanese scientist called Izumi Tabata and fellow colleagues at a department of physiology in Japan.

They conducted the tests on two groups of athletes. The first group used the moderate intensity interval training and the other group used the high intensity interval training.

In group one, the athletes were asked to train in moderate intensity workouts (70% intensity) for a period of five days a week for a total of six weeks with each training session lasting an hour.

The other group trained in the high intensity workouts for 4 days a week for a total of 6 weeks with each session lasting 4 minutes, at 20 seconds of intense training (170% intensity) and 10 seconds of rest.

The results….

In group 1, there was an increase in the aerobic system (cardiovascular system). However, the anaerobic system (muscles) hardly gained at all, showing a little or no results at all.

The people in group 2 showed more of an improvement in all their athletes. Their aerobic systems had increased much more than the people in group 1, and their anaerobic systems had increased by 28%.

This conclusion showed that not only did the high intensity interval training have more of an effect on the aerobic systems, it also had an impact on the anaerobic systems too.

This shows that you can get fit in just 4 minutes of training!!
